Learn More About Raw Cork

What is Virgin Cork?

Virgin cork refers to the raw material harvested from a cork oak tree. Unlike other more processed products which feature smoother finishes, virgin cork has a rugged, textured surface that’s valued for its raw, natural character.

Where Does Our Raw Cork Come From?

Our raw cork comes from the bark of the cork oak trees (Quercus suber) native to the Mediterranean, with Portugal being where our suppliers live and harvest the quality materials. The bark is carefully stripped every nine years without harming the tree.

Sustainability at the Forefront

Cork oak forests in Portugal are some of the most sustainable ecosystems in the world. Every harvest helps preserve these landscapes, which absorb millions of tonnes of CO₂ each year. Because cork trees are never cut down or removed during harvest and regenerate naturally, it remains one of the most eco-friendly raw materials available today.
